河間府吏劉啟新
河間府吏劉啟新，粗知文義。一日，問人曰：「梟鳥破獍是何物？」或對曰：「梟鳥食母，破獍食父，均不孝之物也。」劉拊掌曰：「是矣！吾患寒疾，昏懵中魂至冥司，見二官連几坐，一吏持牘請曰：『某處狐為其孫齧殺，禽獸無知，難責以人理。今惟議抵，不科不孝之罪。』左一官曰：『狐與他獸有別，已煉形成人者，宜斷以人律；未煉形成人者，自宜仍斷以獸例。』右一官曰：『不然。禽獸他事與人殊，至親屬天性，則與人一理。先王誅梟鳥破獍，不以禽獸而貸也。宜科不孝，付地獄。』左一官首肯曰：『公言是。』俄吏抱牘下，以掌摑吾，悸而蘇。所言歷歷皆記，惟不解梟鳥破獍語，竊疑為不孝之鳥獸，今果然也。」案此事新奇，故陰府亦煩商酌，知獄情萬變，難執一端。據余所見，事出律例外者。一人外出，訛傳已死，其父母因鬻婦為人妾。夫歸，迫於父母，弗能訟也。潛至娶者家，伺隙一見，竟攜以逃。越歲緝獲。以為非姦，則已別嫁；以為姦，則本其故夫。官無律可引。又劫盜之中，別有一類，曰趕蛋，不為盜而為盜之盜。每伺盜出外，或襲其巢，或要諸路，奪所劫之財。一日，互相格鬥，並執至官，以為非盜，則實強掠；以為盜，則所掠乃盜贓，官亦無律可引也。又有姦而懷孕者，決罰後，官依律判生子還姦夫。後生子，本夫恨而殺之。姦夫控故殺其子。雖有律可引，而終覺姦夫所訴，有理無情；本夫所為，有情無理，無以持其平也。不知彼地下冥官遇此等事，又作何判斷耶？

In a corpus of ca. 3100 stories from the strange tales collections Zibuyu, Xu Zibuyu, Yuewei caotangbiji, Liaozhai zhiyi, Yetan suilu, Ershilu and Xieduo an LDA-based topic modeling algorithm was asked to identify exactly 50 topics.
