鬼請吸煙
談竹蒼，名震，德清人。乾隆乙巳夏，寓蘇覓館，偶染傷寒，發熱數日，甚形委頓。昏瞀中夢有青衣人手持一卷至前曰：「喚汝去。」談曰：「何人喚我？」曰：「閻王喚汝。」談聞言心悸，不肯同往。青衣人遂將手卷打開，中係黑紙白字，如今之法帖狀，談不覺隨行。
至一處，見有官坐案上，旁立書吏一人，似論公事互相爭執者。談至案前，吏曰：「汝是談師爺麼？」曰：「然。」曰：「所言者即係汝事。」談心懼，回身走避。復至一處，見一月洞門，遠望門內堂屋甚軒敞，排列几案十餘張，俱有冠帶人上坐，若會審案件者。中坐一官金面，形狀可怕。談不敢進。青衣人從背後推之。
已至案前。金面官問曰：「有嚴姓在我衙門告爾。」談曰：「告我何事？」曰：「告爾姦夫淫婦。」談曰：「並無此事。」金面官即令鬼卒將犯證帶來，遂有囚車十餘輛推至階下，先喚男犯一名，見談曰：「不是此人。」後有女犯遙認曰：「人雖不是，面貌倒有些像。」金面官又問談曰：「汝認得倉米巷佛婆麼？」談曰：「並不認識。」金面官即令青衣人送回陽世，車中女犯尚招手謂談曰：「何不到我處吃茶去？」談不應而出。
至途中，青衣人於襪桶中取出煙管一根，長僅五寸，請談吃煙。談心知是鬼，不肯取吃。夢醒後，汗透重衾，其疾遂愈。
