有山西商居京師信成客寓
有山西商居京師信成客寓，衣服僕馬皆華麗，云且援例報捐。一日，有貧叟來訪，僕輩不為通，自候於門，乃得見。神意索漠，一茶後別無寒溫。叟徐露求助意。怫然曰：「此時捐項且不足，豈復有餘力及君？」叟不平，因對眾具道西商昔窮困，待叟舉火者十餘年，復助百金，使商販漸為富人。今罷官流落，聞其來，喜若更生。亦無奢望，或得曩所助之數稍償負累，歸骨鄉井足矣。語訖絮泣，西商亦似不聞。忽同舍一江西人自稱姓楊，揖西商而問曰：「此叟所言信否？」西商面頳曰：「是固有之，但力不能報為恨耳。」楊曰：「君且為官，不憂無借處。倘有人肯借君百金，一年內乃償，不取分毫利，君肯舉以報彼否？」西商強應曰：「甚願。」楊曰：「君但書券，百金在我。」西商迫於公論，不得已書券。楊收券，開敝篋，出百金付西商，西商怏怏持付叟。楊更治具，留叟及西商飲。叟歡甚，西商草草終觴而已。叟謝去，楊數日亦移寓去，從此遂不相聞。後西商檢篋中少百金，鐍鎖封識皆如故，無可致詰。又失一狐皮半臂，而篋中得質票一紙，題錢二千，約符楊置酒所用之數。乃知楊本術士，姑以戲之，同舍皆竊稱快。西商慚沮亦移去，莫知所往。

In a corpus of ca. 3100 stories from the strange tales collections Zibuyu, Xu Zibuyu, Yuewei caotangbiji, Liaozhai zhiyi, Yetan suilu, Ershilu and Xieduo an LDA-based topic modeling algorithm was asked to identify exactly 50 topics. The algorithm calculated the probability of each of the 50 topics to appeaer in each of the stories. Below are given the Top 5 topics in decending order of their probabilities for the story above. Probabilities are indicated with percentage numbers.
